Sofitel hotel is set to open in South Australia's capital city, Adelaide
Construction of the 32-story Sofitel hotel in Adelaide’s CBD will be South Australia’s first internationally branded five-star hotel for nearly 30 years. The luxury development will include 250 rooms and suites, extensive leisure and business facilities, a restaurant, four bars, ballroom, swimming pool, health and fitness center, meeting and conference rooms, and a signature Sofitel Club Lounge. The hotel will be centrally located - accessible to Adelaide’s vibrant Riverbank Precinct, Adelaide Casino, the iconic Adelaide Oval and Rundle Mall shopping district.
The establishment of the internationally renowned hotel reaffirms South Australia’s reputation as a world class destination. Over the past 12 months we have seen a boom in infrastructure and the city landscape is changing. Three new hotels have opened in Adelaide – The Mayfair, The Watson, and the Ibis.
The $140 million hotel development will begin in 2017 and is scheduled to open in late 2018. The hotel will be operated by Australia’s largest hotel operator, Accor – and will be the sixth Sofitel in Australia. As part of the new structure, the tower will be the tallest residential building in the State with 80 apartments spread-out across the top eight levels.
“This premier hotel will be a wonderful asset to the South Australian economy; and a sign of confidence in our tourism industry and our world class events and experiences. It will also help grow tourism, business travel and conferences to Adelaide,” says South Australian Tourism Commission Chief Executive, Rodney Harrex.
