THE LANGHAM, CHICAGO’S NEWLY INSTALLED “GENTLEMEN” COMPLIMENTS EXISTING PORTFOLIO OF RENOWNED ARTWORK

River North luxury hotel invites locals and visitors alike to pose for professional photography with prestigious statues on the AMA Plaza

The Gentlemen Statues

(CHICAGO, IL; May 15, 2015)—The Langham, Chicago (330 N. Wabash Ave.) announces the addition of “Gentlemen,” a series of installed statues created by renowned Taiwanese sculptor Ju Ming and purchased by Great Eagle Holdings, the parent company of Langham Hospitality Group. The original artwork, prominently displayed as a permanent fixture on the AMA Plaza, is part of Ju’s “Living World Series,” featuring eleven bronze plated figures draped in trench jackets and holding umbrellas.

In celebration of The Gentlemen’s newly installed presence, The Langham invites visitors and locals alike to the AMA Plaza on Friday, May 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. to pose for a professional photograph with the gentlemen, which will be shared on The Langham, Chicago’s InstagramTwitter, and Facebook pages. Guests will be provided with a take-away image and encouraged to share the snap shot on their social media channels using the hashtag #thegentlemen.

“The statues are an ideal representation of the hotel and demonstrates the important part that art plays in our brand and overall company culture,” says Dr. K.S. Lo, chairman of Great Eagle Holdings. “We’re thrilled with the reception that our gentlemen have received from the public thus far and are looking forward to it becoming a renowned attraction for visitors and Chicagoans alike.”

Upon entering the doors of The Langham Chicago, guests are immediately exposed to the marriage between fine art, architecture and interiors prevalently displayed throughout the hotel. Architect and renowned interior designer Lauren Rottet selected the majority of the hotel’s pieces, while the artwork in Travelle was curated by the Art Production Fund in collaboration with the restaurant’s designer, the Rockwell Group.

Inspired by Mies van der Rohe and his relationship with the Bauhaus School, Rottet selected American artists of Bauhaus descent, incorporating both well-known and emerging artists into the collection. More than 140 artists are showcased throughout the hotel including: Jaume Plensa; Judy Ledgerwood; Anish Kapoor; Monique Prieto; and emerging artists Michele Grabner; Jan Ticy; and Molly Zuckeran-Hartung.
